ELA Curriculum Maps

What I have tried to do is rewrite the curriculum maps in order for them to be easier to read, follow, and understand.

I broke the standards into the domains of reading stated by Read to Succeed: Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Vocabulary - Fiction, Vocabulary - Nonfiction, Fluency, Comprehension - Fiction, Comprehension - Nonfiction. I also added in Writing and Writing - Grammar.

We will talk about how to incorporate all of these components into our day during clusters.

On the document:

The Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 stand for "Quarter 1", etc.

"Break it down" - means essentially - telling what the sometimes lengthy and wordy standard is trying to say (this is a huge problem with some of the standards. I think lawyers wrote them!)

The note about inquiry at the beginning of the document is more fully explained on this blog under inquiry standards.

The TE21 Correlations we will highlight together in clusters. I want us to make sure we are teaching what the students need for the standards as well as the benchmark tests.

The Assessments part we are going to fill in together as well. We will write down the dates of the assessments we will be giving throughout the year (DRA, MAP, Benchmarks, etc.)

For the resources, I am going to make a google folder for each grade level, each nine weeks. This way, we can all add to the resources easily. I am also making a padlet (we will go over it in clusters) for other resources you would like to share which you can't place into a google folder.

**PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: These are DRAFTS. I was going off of what 2 other school districts completed and was trying to modify it to where it made sense for our school's need. I went cross-eyed several times and was rushing to complete it so it would be ready for you at the beginning of the year. If you see errors or think that something should be changed, PLEASE let me know!!!! You will not hurt my feelings one single bit, I can promise you.

Here are the maps K-5 if you would like to see them together (it's a big file)
